Privacy policy

Who we are

VetoVoter (“the app”) is provided by BishBash (“we”, “us”), based in the United Kingdom. Contact: support@vetovoter.app. This policy covers the VetoVoter Android app and the website at vetovoter.app, including voting in a web browser.

The short version. In pass-the-phone mode, nothing leaves your device. In link mode, the question and votes are stored on our server for a short time so the vote can work. There are no accounts, we don’t ask for your name, and we don’t sell data.

Pass-the-phone mode

The question you type and the votes you cast are held in the app’s memory only while the vote is running. They are not saved and not sent anywhere. They are cleared when you close the app or start a new vote.

Link mode

When you create a link vote, we store:

The app also keeps a short list of the link votes you created on your own device, so you can reopen them. This list stays on your device.

This information is used only to run the vote: counting votes, showing progress and showing the result. Anyone with the link can see the question and cast a vote. Only the person who created the vote can see the progress and the result, unless they choose to share the result with everyone who votes. Please don’t put personal or sensitive information in your question.

We use Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), provided by Google, to store link votes. Google processes this data for us as a service provider and may handle technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the service. We don’t use this data to identify you. Data may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States, under Google’s data processing terms and the safeguards they provide.

How long we keep it

Link votes, and the votes cast in them, are deleted automatically 7 days after the vote’s time limit ends. If there is no time limit, they are deleted 7 days after the vote was created. If you’d like a vote deleted sooner, email us with the code from the link.

Purchases

If you buy VetoVoter Pro, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card details. The app asks Google Play whether your account owns Pro and remembers the answer on your phone.

Sharing

We don’t sell your data and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only with the service provider named above, and where the law requires it.

Analytics and ads

The app and website contain no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.

Permissions

The Android app uses vibration for feedback and an internet connection for link voting. It asks for no other permissions.

Website

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

Email

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and we keep them only as long as needed to help you.

Children

VetoVoter is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law (and similar laws elsewhere) you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it’s used. Because there are no accounts, please include the code from your link so we can find the right vote. Contact support@vetovoter.app. If you’re in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Security

Data sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. Database rules stop anyone listing votes or reading votes they aren’t allowed to see.

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
